I spent last night dancing with glow sticks and pretending to be Norwegian. My friends and I thought that would prevent people from practicing their English with us, but unfortunately we forgot Scandinavians often speak great English. As I twirled my luminescent baton, I fell deeper into our web of lies. I couldn’t remember my name, and my friend Sydney couldn’t remember the name of her town. It turns out that I didn’t lie about my name, and Sydney simply comes from a very very cold village.
Drowning in truths and lies, I reverted back to my American identity. Potbellied Pierre was surprisingly pumped when I mentioned Wisconsin. He called it the real America. I reverently patted my chest and told him about the heartland.
But Pete says it all. Thank you for this.
